There is a job change workshop here in Atlanta that is well worth the price of admission, FREE. For those of you who find yourselves between jobs and need a place to start, this is it. For those of you who have been looking for a new job for awhile and need an injection of information to get you back on track or just keep you going, this is it. I find it is one thing to read information and another to have the information presented to you in a workshop format where you can get feedback for your individualized questions. Even if you feel confident in your pursuit of your new job, it never hurts to get new angles and information. Besides, you will find it to be another good group to network with.
The workshop begins with the creating of a successful financial transition strategy. Newly out of work and your cash flow has stopped and more then likely you have lost your insurance benefits. What to do? Even if you have planned well for such occurrences, there is always room for new ideas. At the workshop you will learn how to find cash from alternate sources and how to cut expenses. Always a good idea, but often easier said than done. This workshop will also give you new ideas to digest and refresh old ideas you already knew about but may not be implementing properly. Insurance benefits are another big issue. You may know what to do, but a mistake here can really cost you so the more information you have the better your decisions will be.
Next, you will be presented with a job transition strategy. A plan of action and what to expect from yourself and others. Where to start and how to keep moving until you are re-employed. Everything I have read says job hunting has changed in the past two years so don’t be afraid to get some new information, particularly if you are an old dog. Old dogs can learn new tricks. Don’t take my word for it, here is a link to “Mastering Executive Job Change“, where a lot can be learned.
